Feature FAQ
How do I track cups and group competitions?
LeaguePad can be used to track a variety of competition types, including the following:
- Round-robin leagues (usual leagues)
- Knock-out tournaments (cups with direct-elimination stages)
- Combination of round-robin and direct elimination
If you are tracking a typical league organized in rounds, there are no specific settings to define. You just assign each match to a specific round. To track other types of tournaments, you need to use the Match Groups feature.
About match groups
A total of 17 match groups can be defined in each league. The term "Group" has a broad meaning, as it may apply to groups named "Western Division" as well as groups named like "Semi-finals". It is important to remember that only MATCHES may be assigned to groups. Teams can NOT be assigned to any group.
Defining match groups
By default, LeaguePad includes a number of match groups to which you can assign matches. The default match groups include "Group A", "Group B", "Northern Conference", "Quarter Finals", "Semi-finals", etc.
You may rename any of the default match groups to create you own match groups.
To rename match groups, select Configure > League configuration. Then highlight the match group you want to rename, and click Rename Group to assign the new name.
Tracking a tournament organized in 4 groups
Use the procedure described above to define the following groups:
- Group A
- Group B
- Group C
- Group D
When adding matches, select the appropriate group from the Match Group list, prior to saving the match. The match is then assigned to the selected group.
Tracking a cup tournament starting at the 16th finals
Use the procedure described above to define the following groups:
- 16th finals
- 8th finals
- Quarter finals
- Semi-finals
- Final
When adding matches, select the appropriate group from the Match Group list, prior to saving the match. The match is then assigned to the selected group.
Tracking a competition combining group stages and direct elimination
Use the procedure described above to define the following groups:
- Group A
- Group B
- Group C
- Group D
- Quarter finals
- Semi-finals
- Final
When adding matches, select the appropriate group from the Match Group list, prior to saving the match. The match is then assigned to the selected group.
Viewing Group matches
To view the matches of a specific group, expand Current Stats > Match Groups. Expand the group for which you want to view the matches and click Matches. The matches assigned to the selected group appear in the top list.
Viewing Group tables
To view the matches of a specific group, expand Current Stats > Match Groups. Expand the group for which you want to view the table and click Table. The group table appears in the top list.
That group table is calculated after the same settings that define the normal league table, but only takes into account the matches assigned to the selected group. This means that only the corresponding teams will be listed.
It is important to note that, unlike the Group tables, the normal league table will still be calculated by taking into account all matches (not matter in which groups the matches are assigned, and whether or not the matches are assigned to any group at all).
