F.A.Q.

Program versions

Is the Shareware evaluation version time-limited?
The Shareware version is not time-limited. You can download it for free and use it for as long as you like, and as many times as you like.

What is the typical process of discovering, testing and purchasing LeaguePad?
Typically you download the Shareware evaluation version, which is a free download, and try it out to check if it corresponds to your needs. If you want to purchase the registered version, you may choose between the Standard Edition and the Webmaster Edition. The purchase can be made online, or you can choose alternate forms of payment if you prefer not to use your credit card. You then receive a registration code by email. You then enter the code in LeaguePad, and the program is automatically unlocked. There is no need to download a new version of the software.

What is the difference between the Shareware evaluation version and the registered version?
The only difference is that the Shareware version can only save scores for a total of 60 matches (or 6 rounds). That version cannot manage leagues for which more than 60 matches (or 6 rounds) have been played. The registered version (Standard Edition or Webmaster Edition) removes that limitation.
In addition, once you register the software, all future minor updates will be available free of charge, and major upgrades will be available with a 50% discount.

If I buy the registered version, will I be able to download each week league file updates?
Buying the registered version only gives the right to use the software. Once registered, you may use the software to create and manage your own leagues.
However, any user, registered or not, has access to the league repository to download league files sent by LeaguePad users.
The league repository is a free service that can stop at any time, and is not related to the registration of LeaguePad. You can also contribute to the league repository by sending your own league files, so everyone can benefit.

What is the difference between the Standard Edition and the Webmaster Edition?
When you register LeaguePad, you can choose to purchase either the Standard Edition or the Webmaster Edition of the software. The Webmaster Edition is the most advanced version and allows to export league tables and statistics to HTML, CSV/Excel, Text, Clipboard and also allows the creation of a complete league Web site. The Standard Edition does not provide export features, however it allows to print all league tables and statistics.

If I register the software, how long is the registration valid?
The registration is valid forever. The software will never stop functionning after a period of time. You may uninstall and re-install the software on any computer that you want, provided that the software is not installed on more than two computers at the same time.

League repository

How often are league files updated?
The league files in the league repository are received from LeaguePad users who are contributing to the site. These contributors are participating on a voluntarily basis, to share their work so that all LeaguePad users can benefit. Although there are contributors who track some leagues very closely, and send regular updates, there is no obligation to do so. This is a free service and as such, it is not related to the price paid to purchase LeaguePad.

I am using LeaguePad to track a professional league that is not available in the league repository. Can I contribute by sending my league file?
Any LeaguePad user is welcome to contribute. You can contact the author using the Contact form to notify your intention to follow a particular league.

General

I am a registered user of PC Soccer 3.0. Am I entitled to a discount on the purchase of LeaguePad?
Yes, all PC Soccer 3.0 registered users are entitled to a 50% discount on the purchase of LeaguePad. If you own a registration for PC Soccer 3.0, please send your registration code to the author by filling in the contact form, and you will receive instructions on how to purchase LeaguePad at the discounted price.

Do you have any track record of the software's result prediction accuracy?
The software calculates and displays its own prediction accuracy, by comparing the results of past matches with the prediction that it would have calculated before the match. It includes 4 prediction methods, and allows you to test which one works best for each league. The result prediction feature in LeaguePad is meant to be use as one of the many indicators that can be taken into account to evaluate the potential outcome of a match. A lot of important factors are not taken into account like for instance key player injuries or suspensions.

Can I assist in translating the software in my language?
LeaguePad is available in English, French and Spanish. Some users have offered to translate the software in their own language. Unfortunately it is not possible to have the software translated in a language that author doesn't understand. This is because users using a software in a certain language will assume that they can communicate with the author using that language. To make sure that the author can provide accurate and timely responses to emails, it is important that the users can communicate with the author in any of the languages that the software supports.

How do create a Web site of my league stats with LeaguePad?
LeaguePad can export each statistics table and match list as a standalone HTML file. In addition, you can also let LeaguePad create a league Web site, complete with navigation menu, featuring only those statistics that you select.
A detailed description of the relevant feature is described in the Web site creation page.

Configuration

How do I track leagues for sports other than football/soccer?
Although LeaguePad has been primarily written with football/soccer in mind, the program can be easily adapted to track competitions for almost any kind of sports. You can use the following features to customize your league file for a specific sport or activity other than soccer.
A detailed description of the relevant features is described in the sports configuration page.

How do I track cups and group competitions?
LeaguePad can be used to track a variety of competition types, including the following:
  • Round-robin leagues (usual leagues)
  • Knock-out tournaments (cups with direct-elimination stages)
  • Combination of round-robin and direct elimination

  • A detailed description of the relevant features is described in the competitions configuration page.

How do I deal with special match outcomes?
Sometimes the result of a match is not as straightforward as usual. For example, there may be cases when matches in amateur leagues are postponed, or for which one of the teams did not show up. Sometimes matches are won after extra-time, and/or after penalty shoot-outs.
Depending on how your league is set up, each of the above circumstances may have different effects on the points and/or goals awarded to the teams in the League Table. Sometimes there may even be sanctions applied by the leagues authorities due to forfeits or other reasons unrelated to the sport field.
LeaguePad provides a range of features that allow to deal with several possible match outcomes, the consequences these matches may have in the League Table and the way the matchs should appear in the match lists.
A detailed description of the relevant features is described in the outcomes configuration page.
